London based inventors of magnetic wallpaper
MagScapes the company was co-founded by product designer Patricia Adler and marketing expert Jeremy Lee. Together, they created the world's first magnetic wallpaper.
Why use magnets on walls? The story began with Patricia who felt interior walls were massively under-utilised spaces. Drawing from the warm nostalgia and broad appeal of fridge magnets - a wallcovering was developed that contained ferrous powder making it receptive to magnets, it also had a vinyl face for easy printing and non woven backer for easy hanging. MS Lite was the result and a UK patent was granted in 2006. It was launched at 100% Design and immediately won press endorsements with trend site Gizmodo declaring - now your entire house can be a fridge door!
The name MagScapes was made by combining 'magnetic' and 'landscapes'. The use of magnets over stickers, blue tack and pins has slowly become regarded as the cleaner and greener way to display, learn, create and move elements around on walls.
Today, MagScapes has a showroom in central London, manufactures in China and UK - and uses agents and distributors in markets around the world. Jeremy manages the business in London and says "the vision is simple: To provide the best materials and ideas for magnets to work on walls. Our work over the years has established MagScapes as the 'go to' place for designer magnets and related wallcoverings and accessories".

As wall space becomes ever more valuable, magnets will enable walls to work harder, becoming; display, creative, work or play spaces as needed. Jeremy says "we are now seeing our customers lead the way with new ideas for how magnets may work on walls - tablets and smart phones being the latest trend for wall accessories".
